Academic papers tend to be cigarette-paper narrow, assume strange,
specialist senses of words, and rarely relate what is being described to any
broader context. The debates on the forum have made clear that there is some
real content, what are the ranges of use of particular terms, and what are
the relations to other disciplines.    (02)

It has also been very useful in understanding the relationship of the
language used about ontologies to what they could actually be useful for,
and so for setting the right level of expectation for those who pay me to
work on ontologies.    (03)

A controlled forum would end up as an in-crowd chatting in an obsure
jargon - which may keep an academic focus, but won't help with industrial
take-up or funding.    (04)
