All, (01)
Yes. IOE is a marketing term from CISCO, and IMHO such terms should be avoided
as a title for an Ontology Summit theme. As mentioned, IoT now has active
standards activities [1] and other technical work behind it [2]. Not
surprisingly W3C took a web perspective on it with their Web of Things (WoT)
approach that Dan Brickley mentioned. NIST is using the term Cyber-Physical
Systems (CPS) to refer to similar notions [3], and of course there is Machine
to Machine (M2M) with their vendors and standards and the Industrial Internet
(II) with their vendors and consortium [4]. Most, if not all, of these groups
are concerned with the human aspects of the more machine connected world that
they envision. Let's just pick a term (and I vote for IoT), and stick with the
excellent program laid out in the material that Mark Underwood sent out. If
this is the theme that Ontolog Forum chooses for this year's summit, I
definitely will make an effort to attend. The kind of broad yet deep look into
these areas that an Ontology Summit could provide would be quite well timed. (02)

No question that IoT has more traction for SEO. Try #IoT on Twitter. (06)
There's also the IEEE standards group,

But Ram should chime in, as it was his suggestion. (08)

Good point. I also believe Internet of Things may attract more participation. (010)
