[1] is ridiculous, they didnt anonymize very well did they if they have birthdate still in the records. I see the same problem at [2]:

date of birth? come on people we're not doing horoscopes here.

In practice this is actually, virtually impossible. As new research increasingly demonstrates, "anonymized data" is an illusion [1]. For one thing, you can't necessarily control how that info will be combined with other datasets, and usually it is surprisingly(?) easy to deanonymize data with some simple assumptions about the domain.
