No matter what precautions I take, if my private diary is digital, I can
not tell whether anyone has read it, nor can I prevent anyone from
reading it at some future date, even if I now pre-emptively destroy it.
Please correct me if I'm wrong, but I think that's a fact unprecedented
in human history.  The implications for every kind of professional
relationship are sobering, to say the least.    (03)

John, what you say sounds a lot like, "We are all slaves, and resistance
is futile".  I know you only slightly, but well enough to be pretty sure
that's not, in fact, your position.  I hope we can figure out a
meaningful way to pick up the pieces, here.    (04)
