if people on forums judged their responses by asking themselves: 

is this an area in which I have some professional expertise, which knowledge and experience I can offer to others?

do I have a question about the subject of this forum? 

and distiguished between their own untutored opinions on all matters and the subjects in which they had special qualifications

forums would provide much less entertainment potential.

I can conceive of a thread than which none more pointless can be conceived.  If a thread than which none more pointless can be conceived does not exist, then I can conceive of a thread more pointless  that a thread than which none more pointless can be conceived; namely a thread than which none more pointless can be conceived which exists- an absurdity.  Therefore a thread that which none more pointless can be conceived  exists.
