Hi all, (01)
There is work ongoing in this area at OMG, based on the Quantities,
Units, Dimensions, and Values (QUDV) annex to the SysML standard. JPL
has done extensive work to convert both the SysML specification and the
QUDV annex to a set of ontologies that they use as a part of a broader
technology chain internally. I believe they are working to make some of
it publicly available, and portions of their work (including
representation of OWL 2 as a MOF metamodel, and use of that metamodel in
transformations that are part of their broader ecosystem), will be
included in an upcoming revision to the Ontology Definition Metamodel (ODM). (02)
There is also work underway at OMG on the subset of units and dimensions
related to a specification for dates and times in SBVR as well as Common
Logic and ODM/OWL. This effort is not identical to, but reuses portions
of the QUDV effort, both of which were careful to include the VIM as
well as a number of other standards as reference material. A version of
this specification will be published as a revised submission at the
upcoming OMG meeting in Washington DC, the week of March 21. The
specification itself may not be publicly available (i.e. to non-members)
until after it has been formally adopted, but it is likely that the
version published in March will head down that path, and that
publication will follow shortly thereafter. (03)
Best regards, (04)
