Same here on Thunderbird. I seem to recall there was an older version of
Outlook that encoded everything in a single winmail.dat file which is
only readable by other Outlook uesrs. Sometimes it does this for
something as trivial as a Pound sign or other non ASCII character in the
text; other times it does it because there is an attached file. Either
way, it's unusable outside the Outlook universe. (01)
