Leo Excellent again and yes formulation is right word and thanks. Agree that metaphysics is underlying ... that helps understand reality. I am brought up in environments that study Vedas. These are Hymns based on Sanskrit and date at least prior to 2000 BC. Similarly, if there were languages from Indo-European links, some of the works in these would be poetry or singing based. These heritages have early knowledge including discovery of zero, innumerability, infinity, and lot of early logic and arithmetic and decimal system. Also lot of metaphysics about nature of reality and on what is loosely translated as Mind-intellect (described as Manas). Mathematics of today had origin in these metaphysical concepts, of course we have come way ahead, and are also linking math, languages and ontology (embodies at least some metaphysics!). Can we resolve chicken-and-egg argument or accept today's knowledge from whatever source humanity got it? Yes we need metaphysics and math (and logic) to construct new ontology solutions in the sense of machine based (IT) solutions. Hopefully they approximate the physical objects, processes and phenomena more accurately than mainframes did in early years!
