I tend not to use any of the Google products except search and occasionally google docs for joint work, because of their privacy policy. Maybe that’s why I don’t see the sidebar.

Thanks,

Leo

It is available, but to selected user profiles (my theory).  Anyway, I've dropped a post [1] with a link to a Google Drive folder that shows why I postulate about their use of profile analytics (not a bad thing per se.) to drive the rollout of this service.

I invite everyone to participate in my little experiment.

Thanks for the pointer.  Unfortunately, I don't want Google's
"things not strings".  I know how to find what I want by typing in
the correct strings.  I definitely do *not* want their so-called
"things" messing up my search.

I was an "early adopter" of Google, when they first got started.
And I loved their page-rank algorithm.  But their attempts to
second-guess what I want have been miserable failures.

I just googled "Himmelfahrt" — today, in Germany, on Ascension Day 2012 — to read up on why the Ascension warrants a national holiday and the "knowledge" graph returned lots of information related to a 12 year old album by a German industrial metal band. Not a thing about the holiday, the event it purports to celebrate, its religious significance, etc.
