Yes, and they clearly have an algorithm (why wouldn't they circa. 2012) 
that attempts to construct an optimal release path where "buzz" is a key 
factor.    (02)

It only gets dangerous when the algorithm goes wrong. Trouble is, 
algorithms typically wrong. Thus, there are serious implications. For 
instance, as in the case in any competition, time delays have adverse 
effects. Google failed to add a critical note their announcement page 
about the *fact* that their new service roll-out was going to be staggered.    (04)

Having machines make decisions about the pages we view, based on our 
profiles, without "us" controlling calibration is a dangerous slippery 
slope. There are a number of mercurial social factors that come into 
play that many euphorically ignore, just because data is *transmitted* 
and *transformed* en route to producing a pretty HTML page.
