Something similar happened when computer science became
an established academic field. Many people pointed to
the increasing number of students who were studying formal
methods in comp. sci. (or informatics). (04)
Unfortunately, the increase in students majoring in comp. sci.
was accompanied by an even greater *decrease* in students
majoring in mathematics. (05)
