You might try reading the RDF spec, which is a suite of connected documents,
one of which has the title "RDF Semantics". http://www.w3.org/TR/rdf-mt/ for
the current version,
https://dvcs.w3.org/hg/rdf/raw-file/default/rdf-mt/index.html for the new
version which will shortly obsolete the earlier one. I recommend the new
