Having heard those interesting comments and queries about the future use of
computing and ontologies, I canot resist to pob a question I asked some
five years ago.
Does this world (of scientists, financiers and the lay public) want to share
knowledge (representations) or want to distribute them under a monopolised
system of access and exploitation (application)?
Subject to the prospective answers, what would be the net effect of an assumed
solution (e.g. "Watson" upgraded and individually acquired in the heads or the
people rather than in their handheld gadgets) and the chance for breaking it to
the rest of the world? Would the man/agency be persecuted, heralded, penalized
or rewarded? In what proportions?
