Yes indeed.  And for plants and animals, it's the taxonomy of
species.  For that taxonomy, it's irrelevant whether they evolved
from earlier forms or were created independently.  The simple
fact is that for all animals, being an animal is fundamental.    (04)

A fish or an elephant cannot stop being an animal as long as
it exists.  But it can be taken out of its normal environment
without ceasing to exist.    (05)

An animal that grows from an egg to an adult changes in many
ways, some more drastic than others.  But it always remains
an animal.    (06)

That is why being an animal is essential, but many other
properties are accidental.    (07)
