I submit that for us to engage in a debate about the meaning of
fruitfulness is not fruitful. Unlike 'context', 'fruitful' is not a
word that has ever, AFAIK, previously occurred anywhere in this forum
or in any discussion of ontology engineering. Surely we have enough
problems without allowing ourselves to be diverted into an endless
meta-meta-meta-debate about some concept of dubious provenance (its
use in the philosophy of science appears, from a rapid and
superficial scan, to be restricted to postmodernists - but if Im
wrong, I don't want to know about it) and even more dubious utility.
If 'fruitfulness' starts to appear in lists of requirements then its
time give up ontology engineering and start writing poetry. (01)
