Thank you very much, Asuman, for initializing this thread, and for
floating the idea of moving the semantically-driven electronic
document interoperability effort into an open standardization effort
by building upon the wonderful work that the UBL TC had started. (01)
... this, in fact, take us (ONTOLOG) all the way back to our roots --
for those who are not familiar with our history (our mailing-list
actually started out as [ubl-ontolog] before we re-constituted and
renamed the list to [ontolog-forum] back in 2002), read our Charter
agin: http://ontolog.cim3.net/cgi-bin/wiki.pl?WikiHomePage#nidB (02)
On behalf of the community, I welcome the initiative and would
encourage that members do chime in and help make this important effort
a reality. (03)
On a related note: (04)
* Professor Asuman Dogac and her colleagues will be our invited
speaker(s) to present on some of the work she has cited (in her
message) on Thu 6-Mar-2008 (05)
* We have also invited Jamie Clark (Director of Standards Development,
OASIS) to give a talk at the Ontolog Forum. Jamie has been very
encouraging, all along, to opportunities where some of the work being
discussed on this forum can be taken toward a standardization effort.
I'll let everyone know as soon as we have a date. (06)
