Strangely enough, I had Neuro-linguistic Programming in mind when I read
your post:

Having been raised in a hippy household (and rebelling by entering high
tech), the more spiritual work comes to mind first.   NLP in this context
also makes sense and your original statement seems to be true for either
acronym interpretation.    (02)

Neuro Linguistic programming is described as a set of models and principles
