We had a great Panel Discussion session on August 10, 2006.
Co-Moderators Mr. Duane Nickull (Adobe) and Mr. Rex Brooks
(Starbourne Communications), SOA experts themselves, also put
together a very knowledgeable panel that included Mr. Ron
Schmelzer (Zapthink), Dr. Ken Laskey (MITRE) and Ms. Rebekah Metz
(Booz Allen Hamilton).    (01)

The session was, again, very well attended. Our appreciations go
out to our moderators and panelists who had put in all the work
making this session happen, and for sharing with us their
experience and insights. And, as always, thanks to all the
participants who joint us and contributed their perspectives too.    (02)

Proceedings of today's session are captured at our wiki page, at:
http://ontolog.cim3.net/cgi-bin/wiki.pl?ConferenceCall_2006_08_10    (03)

In particular, full audio recording of the session (along with
the panelists' slides) is now available too - see:
http://ontolog.cim3.net/cgi-bin/wiki.pl?ConferenceCall_2006_08_10#nidP1Z
and are available as telephone playback (for 10 days), as mp3
download and podcast. The latter will remain in our archives,
contributing to yet another artifact of community's rich body of
knowledge that we share with everyone. Thanks again, to all, who
took part in this.    (04)

Best regards. =ppy    (05)

P.S. Please note that we have the following events coming up (for
the rest of the month:    (06)

* Thursday, August 17, 2006 - Dr. York Sure, Assistant Professor
at the Institute AIFB of the University of Karlsruhe (Germany)
and currently visiting researcher at Stanford University (USA),
will be presenting to the community his talk entitled: "What does
Sparkling Wine have to do with Semantics?" ... Please refer to
details at the session wiki page at:
http://ontolog.cim3.net/cgi-bin/wiki.pl?ConferenceCall_2006_08_17    (07)

* Tuesday, Aug. 22, 2006 - Note that our regular active
membership conference call for this particular week has been
switched to Tuesday (rather than the usual Thursday), same time,
though. Among others, a key agenda item for this call is to plan
out a short series of events (theme, program), possibly on "Test
& Evaluation of Ontology and Tools" and/or some other theme of
mutual interest. This next series envisioned as a
NIST-Ontolog-NCOR collaboration. Join us at the call, especially
if you care about, or want to influence, the outcome. Please
refer to details, closer to the time, at the session wiki page
at:
http://ontolog.cim3.net/cgi-bin/wiki.pl?ConferenceCall_2006_08_22
... Kindly make a note of the schedule change!    (08)

* Thursday, August 31, 2006 - Mr. Rex Brooks (Starbourne
Communications) and Professor Bob Smith (California State
University & Talltree Labs) are organizing and will be moderating
our scheduled discussion on the topic: "Applications of
Ontologies in Emergency Response" ... Please refer to details at
the session wiki page at
http://ontolog.cim3.net/cgi-bin/wiki.pl?ConferenceCall_2006_08_31
closer to the time.    (09)

Please mark your calendars now and RSVP promptly (by e-mailing
<peter.yim@xxxxxxxx> offline) so we can prepare adequate
resources to accommodate all attendees. =ppy
