Dear All,     (01)

On Wednesday the IAOA EC council discussed the idea of creating an IAOA
lexicon. The EC decided to create a subcommittee of the Education Committee for
this purpose, and nominated Todd Schneider and Adam Goldstein as co-chairs. I
am very happy to announce that Todd has already accepted.     (02)

Shortly, you should all receive a subscription notification from the education
committee email list. If you don't receive it or have any difficulty
subscribing, please let me know.     (03)

One issue that the EC did not settle yet is the name of the new subcommittee --
which is obviously linked to the intended scope of the work. While a lexicon
will be one output, I hope that the long-term purpose of this subcommittee is
to address the current Babylonian confusion in applied ontology and need for a
shared terminology in our domain. (Whether the result of its work is organized
as lexicon or as ontology or as wiki does not really matter.) For that reason I
believe something like "Subcommittee for Terminology" would be appropriate;
suggestions are welcome!     (04)

Best
Fabian     (05)
