Hi Gunther,    (01)

Thank you for the response.    (02)

[ppy] correct.    (04)

[ppy] that is actually something I would like to find out too. The
OOR sandbox ( http://oor-01.cim3.net/ ) is based on the NCBO BioPortal
technology implementation ... therefore someone like yourself, Chris
Chute (Mayo Clinic) or Mark Musen (Stanford) may be able to tell us if
there is some form of UCUM that would sit well alongside other
ontologies, say, in the NCBO-OOR (OpenOntologyRepository) installation
that is being run now.    (06)

[ppy] maybe there are good reasons why we need your presence.    (08)

The exercise at hand is not about defining another UoM standard, but
rather, about representing such standard(s) as a set of ontologies so
that UoM standard(s) can be computable by machines, besides simply
being expressed in natural language(s); to be interpreted by humans.    (09)

Your presence (or that of someone intimately familiar with UCUM) will
be extremely useful. You can tell us whether the UCUM standards is the
right candidate for "conversion" into ontologies. You could provide
guidance as to what other standards are complementary, which ones are
duplicative, etc. ... when the group starts reviewing what standards
or ontologies are already on the landscape, and which ones are the
best candidates that the community to jointly put effort into.    (010)

I do hope you can join us *and* be on the panel. (If we do decide on
having the session) This will be a 2 to 2.5 hour virtual session (an
augmented conference call) on Thu 2009.06.11 starting at 10:30am PDT /
1:30pm EDT / 7:30pm CEST / 17:30 UTC.    (011)

Thanks in advance. =ppy    (012)

P.S. by the way, I took the liberty to omit your "CONFIDENTIALITY
NOTICE" footnote, as that is inconsistent with the open archived
mailing list settings that this community is working under. ... before
doing so, I did make an attempt to satisfy myself that your message
content is not confidential in nature. I hope you are fine with that.
Maybe you can provide a disclaimer (like what Howard did), or even
provide us with a working email address that is free of such a
footnote in the future.
