Notice that the glacier example seems to be extendable to all entities ontologically classified as continuant/endurants (objects, physical objects, etc.), a central point being that there is always some change, some processual aspect to all (?) existents. These entities--from glaciers to the coffee mug--however, exhibit a stability (structural, compositional, material, persistence, etc.) that, in part, presumably is what makes them easily classifiable as objects.
