The issue here is normally reification. It is easy to unambiguously
specify a *date/time* with a text string (but they usually aren't since
time zones aren't specified). (04)
One could treat *date/time* as a data type for encoding purposes,
with the understanding that the data type is a reference to a instance
of a class of time periods. (05)
