   I cant believe that anyone seriously thinks the universe *is* a computer,(especially scientists) but 
 yes, it is a system,  and yes, people tend to see /understand new things in terms of what they know  or believe true and associate them to what they recognise as familiar ,  a well established fact in cognitive science
