The word in question was, I believe, "random". John's point was that this word is now a technical word used within the context of a precise and widely - almost universally - accepted theory. See http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Randomness

In a technical forum like this, one can reasonably expect that words like this, which have an reasonably precise meaning, are used in a sense which conforms to this meaning.
