I heard that story years ago.  You can find many versions on the WWW.
But my version is crisper, with less useless verbiage than most.

As far as I know, my major contribution is to view the story
as a discussion of ontology.

If you want to use it in a talk, you might illustrate it with
a copy of Norman Rockwell's painting of the three umpires:
