"Reduced" implies that some complexity is still there.
If you want to keep unnecessary then use "eliminate" instead of "reduce"
unless you are advocating keep some reduced amount of "unnecessary

I hope that this is not unnecessary nitpicking.
I do have the advantage of not being overly involved in the process so I
am looking at the text with no preconceived ideas about why the words
were chosen. I am just trying to parse them and figure out what the
point is from the actual written words. (02)
