Again, i object to the idea that things in the world have classifiers.  It
is sentient beings that generate the classifiers and attach them to things
whether they are in the world, or not.

Absolutely right that only sentient beings classify things.    They are in the world too. 

But they do not usually create formal ontologies to do so.  They make natural classfications.   I was attempting to distinquish between formal ontologies, a kind of scientific activity where we organize the natural ontologies of various communities of sentient beings.  This formal ontology  is not in the world of the scientist's observations, but are the result of his scientific analysis, while the ontologies of the communities he is observing are what I meant by "in the world".

OTOH, the implicit domain concepts used by New Orleans jazz musicians is not a human artifact, it is a naturally occuring phenomina of human culture.   What some  anthropoligical linguists create to explain and document this natural occurence would be an artifact.
