Erick,

The kind of ontologies I deal with are in the form of semantic/conceptual
data models.  Over the years, I have developed a model of geography
that is (in my humble opinion) pretty good.  I originally sketched
it out in my 1995 book, Data Model Patterns: Conventions of
Thought (Dorset House, ISBN: 0-932633-29-3).  I have been
working on a more sophisticated view in an updated book that I hope will
come out this year.  If you are interested in seeing my chapter on
geography, drop me a line at dch@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx  I will be
happy to send it to you.  I only ask you to mark it up and send it
back.  (I'll take all the editing help I can get...)

This only covers the categories.  For instances, you'll have to rely
on sources such as the one you cited.
