On "multi-rooted trees" - assuming that these are not a set of
structures that are independent of each other, having multiple roots
requires that at least one node has at least two parents. I have
habitually called these hierarchies - but there may be a contradictory
usages, and I am sure I will be advised of this. (02)
A major use such hierarchies are product structures, in which multiple
"root" products use common subassemblies. A product structure for any
single product instance is a tree (the bill-of-materials), although the
type structure is not a tree, since the same component type may occur in
multiple branches - that is, have multiple parents. (03)
