This looks good, Fabian. You might also want to consider whether they are from
a developing country (according to the membership country codes and criteria
that IAOA currently uses), in addition to gender. High qualification is most
important, of course, perhaps followed by gender, developing country, etc.
Economic need is probably a factor for developing countries.    (01)

I've seen a tremendous number of student registrations for IAOA, so this
portends well!    (02)

Thanks,

Stefano,
Just to make sure, the budget for grants is 3000 Euro, right?
If so, I suggest the following: we aim for 10 travel grants (worth 300 Euro
each).     (05)

Antony, Werner, Robert, I suggest each of us has a look at 6 grant applicants
and judges them on the following scale:
1. reject
2. borderline
3. accept
4. strong accept     (06)

I believe we agreed to judge on (a) qualification (thus, has the person a
background that illustrates interest in ontology) and (b) on economic need.
Thus, a "strong accept" should be reserved for people who are very qualified
and can show economic need. Ideally, each of us comes up with 2 or 3 (strong)
accepts and then can use the assembled list, create a ranking, and make a
decision as a group.     (07)

I was pleased to see that we got male and female applicants; it would be good
to a have a balanced group. I am not in favor of quotas, but in case of equally
qualified candidates we might want to consider gender as criterion.     (08)

Does that work for you?
