But I think that they are not strictly speaking completely independent as
orthogonal X and Y axes in geometry are - and as orthogonal implies - though
they are not strictly dependent either, which is, I think your point. And I
agree.    (02)

It gets rather hard to define any large collection of items without
intensional definitions - beliefs, desires, and intentions do not seem to be
a special case. It would be interesting to see how anyone can define
infinite sets (collections) without intensional definitions.     (04)

I am afraid I do not quite follow you.    (06)

ChrisM made the point that extensional/intensional sets (or criteria of
identity) are quite different from extensional or intensional definitions
recently on the list. I would argue that there is a case for saying these
are better examples of orthogonal items.    (07)

Hence, I do not see how you can use any argument for or against intensional
definitions to claim anything about extensional criteria of identity. 
It looks to me (and so maybe others) that you are implying this here.     (08)
