Hi all, (01)
Following Mike Dean's great idea to sign emails digitally I have issued a
certificate myself - it is not trusted, of course :) (see the attachment) -
by a standard Java "keytool.exe" utlity. (02)
I am not sure if the signatures can help OOR discussions but this option
defenitly could help OOR initiative if included as an option in OOR API. (03)
General view is that ontologies is related to authors like scientific
knowledge (or invention) relates to scientist (inventor). (04)
We could consider the idea to sign ontologies digitally and confirm this
relation via certificates issued by proper repository servers (or by
"ontological" authorities). The signed ontology could have a standard
extention, say ".OOR", to inform proper browsers/editors about the
authorized character of the ontology. OOR file could have a special unique
XML schema, so on. (05)
Any comments? (06)
Regards
Yuri (07)
