Sorry I didn't pay attention to this earlier, but while the proposed
architecture in the pdf is excellent and the BioPortal is an example I
will personally use as a model, I don't recall that we blessed a given
architecture, let alone a codebase. If I missed, that, which is
entirely likely, it just points out that I need to get reconnected.    (01)

I am planning to do that in the ontolog-forum with an update this fall
of work going on in the Network Centric Operations Industry Consortium
(NCOIC) and OASIS, that highlights the need for standards-based
registry-repositories capable of storing and pointing to relevant
ontologies or ontologies on which standards are based and on which
standards-conformant applications and services are dependent.    (02)

This will inevitably include a discussion of the need for reliable
testing and certification to verify that products and services actually
do implement standards/ontologies correctly and that the semantic
interoperability this is supposed to allow is actually realized. I won't
be suggesting the Ontolog Forum do something like this, only that we
need to start pointing our thinking in that direction.    (03)

These are developments directly related to last year's Ontology Summit.
Due to intervening events and submissions, my goal of finishing a first
Emergency Data Exchange Language Reference Information Model (EDXL-RIM)
component specification with an ontology representation for a
ValueListURI has been pushed back in time to next spring. Unfortunately
we have had numerous other submissions and our work load has
dramatically increased, so next spring may be optimistic.    (04)

Regardless, I thought I would mention that the more concrete end of our
spectrum of activities has some movement even if not enough.    (05)

Cheers,
