Re: http://ontolog.cim3.net/cgi-bin/wiki.pl?ConferenceCall_2011_12_08    (01)

Our Ontology Summit pre-launch community brainstorm session yesterday
was very well attended. The high energy discussion generated a lot of
valuable input. The theme for the upcoming summit has emerged - it
will be OntologySummit2012: "Ontology for Big Systems" - when we will
be expecting the community to spend three quality months, joining
forces with the system engineering folks, to understand the challenges
and bring value with ontology-based solutions to large scale systems,
characterized by huge, complex, heterogeneous, distributed components
and data.    (02)

Full proceedings of this community input and planning session - the
slides, in-session messaging transcript, as well as full audio
recording (mp3) of the meeting - are now available in the archives,
and can be accessed from our session page under:
http://ontolog.cim3.net/cgi-bin/wiki.pl?ConferenceCall_2011_12_08#nid3078    (03)

Please make a note that Ontology Summit 2012 "Launch Event" is
scheduled for Thursday 12-Jan-2012 (starting 9:30am PST / 12:30pm EST
/ 6:30pm CET / 17:30 UTC.) Details will be available on the developing
session page at:
http://ontolog.cim3.net/cgi-bin/wiki.pl?ConferenceCall_2012_01_12 ...
please mark you calendars!    (04)

Please spread the word and help get those who are interested and will
add value to the discourse, to sign up on our mailing list at:
http://ontolog.cim3.net/mailman/listinfo/ontology-summit    (05)

Once again, a huge THANK YOU should go to each and every individual
who participated and contributed at the session yesterday!    (06)

Thanks & regards. =ppy    (07)

Session Co-chairs,
Steve Ray & Peter Yim    (08)

On behalf of the Ontology Summit Organizing Committee    (09)

p.s. In the mean time, we will be forming the organizing committee to
help frame the issues, break them down into tracks, and champion
discourse and virtual events to tackle them systematically. Any who
would like to volunteer their time should make a post to the
[ontology-summit] list, if you have not had a chance to so indicate at
the session yesterday. The first organizing committee meeting (barring
serious objections) has now been scheduled for Friday, 6-Jan-2012
10:00am EST / 4:00pm CET (this has changed from what was verbally
announced yesterday, please note.) All future organizing committee
meetings will be at the same time on Fridays too. ... Feel free to
contact me <peter.yim@xxxxxxxx> if there is any question.

Dear All,    (013)

You are cordially invited to join us at the virtual event this
Thursday (8-Dec-2011) for the 2012 Ontology Summit (pre-launch)
communitywide brainstorming and planning session.    (014)

This is the 7th year we are featuring the annual, international, open
Ontology Summit season. This upcoming Ontology Summit will, again, be
co-organized by Ontolog, NIST, NCOR, NCBO, IAOA and NCO-NITRD.    (015)

The Ontology Summit comprises of a series of both virtual and
face-to-face activities that span about 3 months (January through
March/April each year). These activities include a vigorous
three-month online discourse on the theme of the Summit, virtual panel
discussions, research and collaborative authoring activities, which
will culminate in a two-day face-to-face workshop and symposium at
NIST in Gaithersburg, Maryland, USA. Each year, we publish a Summit
Communiqué to offer a message from the Summit participants to the
world-at-large as a signature activity of the Ontology Summit series.    (016)
