Great job putting together the list of case studies. I don't know if it is possible, but I think it would be helpful to take this a step further to make it even clearer people about exactly how the ontology delivered value. Some additional questions to consider are below. They elaborate on the solution and benefits parts. This can feed back into the ontology application framework (OAF). a. the intended or role of the ontology – how is it intended to be used? This would relate to the challenge, as you currently have it. i. to serves as a common agreed set of semantic definitions. e.g. increase human communication, getting everyone on same page ii. improve interoperability among systems b. what was the value actually delivered by having the ontology e.g. i. reduced maintenance costs. ii. Increased agility for adding new features c. how was the value delivered? i. the ontology increased the ability of humans to see what things meant, and it was a common basis for a variety of systems, rather than only one ii. reduce time needed to perform maintenance meant it was now possible to add new features much faster and in a cost-effective way. It was much easier to predict/assess the impacts of changes with an ontology being a uniform basis for multiple interacting systems. d. Where is the ontology in the overall architecture of the system? i. Is it a relatively small component or a major one? ii. Is it a hub and spokes architecture for interoperability?
