Hi Denise,    (01)

I was wondering whether Financial Services deserves its own list entry,
and I think it does. However, it could be that this was all intended to
come under the much wider context of "Business" in this list since the
other entries are specifically not business related. The reason I would
add Financial Services is that for many people "Business" covers general
day to day commerce, trade, eCommerce etc., e.g. the UN/CEFACT / ebXML
universe, whereas Financial Services is somewhat separate from
"business" in this sense. The same could be said of insurance, which
also throws up some interesting ontological challenges and has similar
supply chain information challenges to those we have in financial services.    (02)

Financial services also draws on cross-domain terms from financial
accounting (XBRL etc.) and legal ontology terms (if those existed) as
well as all the usual obvious ones. As a point of reference one could
look at the ISO structure, which has TC68 for Financial Services,
covering securities, payments, and core banking services.    (03)

I will try and dial in at the appointed time for the finalization of the
communique. Sorry I didn't manage to join the telecon today. It looks
like you have all come up with some fantastic stuff and I can't think of
much else to add.    (04)
