Dear Thomas,

They are all good questions, and most of answers one can find while studying the content.
Here is something shedding more light:
I want to stress that the whole idea is to advance a global ontology content, as a top-class intelligent content for smartphone users, as structurally rich and semantically categorized so therefore automatically discoverable, reusable, reconfigurable, and adaptable.

By 2014, the number of smartphone applications reached 1.2 million, being downloaded more than 75 billion total apps for the total 1.75 billion smartphone users worldwide.

At the same time holistic and systematic intelligent content is virtually missing, and smartphones failing to make its owners smarter.

Re. how big was an ontology team. You have to do it alone, there is no other way with a top ontology.
In all, it took about ten years to systematize things. The first version of global ontology was published in 1989 years by the Academy of Sciences.
A lot of fruitful ideas I got from Ontolog-Forum, its best times of 2000-2005.
Special thanks must be given to John Sowa for his strong commitment to the cause.
Thanks and regards,
Azamat

Dear Dr. Abdoullaev,

I have read the shorter of your slideshares, and begun to skim the longer one. At first glance, I find your work very interesting, and indeed impressive.

I am especially impressed that you have attempted to bridge your upper ontology to upper ontologies used elsewhere, e.g. by Encyclopedia Brittanica. Since a bridge between ontologies is in effect a translation between languages, and since translation is never exact, how do you handle such semantic phenomena as ambiguity and vagueness?

When I read that yours is a lattice-structured ontology, I immediately thought of John Sowa's lattice-structured ontology, described in his book Knowledge Representation. I'm somewhat familiar with John's ontology, and also with DOLCE. Could you comment on how your ontology differs from those ones and, more generally, what led you to develop a new upper-level ontology?

Also, could you tell us something of the community of researchers you worked with to develop this ontology?

Thanks for bringing this to our attention.

Regards,

Tom Johnston
