Thank you, Leo.

I have updated your input on Mike's contribution to the W3C-OWL work, as well as that from Kathy Laskey (offline) on Mike's role in the STIDS conference series and the Annual "Mike Dean Best Paper Award" that has recently been established to honor him.

The OntologWiki:MikeDean page now reads ...

Michael Dean
August 7, 1961 - November 19, 2014    (4EWM)
Previously,
Principal Scientist

Among other roles, Mike was    (4EWN)

  • Co-convener of the Open Ontology Repository (OOR) initiative (est. 2008)    (4EWQ)
  • a Member of the Steering Committee of the annual Conference on Semantic Technology for Intelligence, Defense and Security (STIDS) (since the steering committee's founding in 2010)    (4EWT)
    • the STIDS Conference organizers have established an annual "Michael Dean Best Paper Award" to reward the paper that best exemplifies the qualities that made Mike such a productive and respected member of the semantic technology community. See:http://stids.c4i.gmu.edu/award2014.php    (4EWU)
