A polymath is a homo universalis, Renaissance man, universal genuis, wisdom
man, a person of great learning and powers in many fields of study and
practice.
He is a philosopher, scientist, engineer, architect, politician, physician,
and mathematician at the same time. He's a unique collection of talents and
human knowledge and skills, like Imhotep, Avicenna, Da Vinchi, Galilei,
Leibniz, or Lomonosov.
Hardly the term has bearing to people involved with some special
mathematical problems.
