Interesting article in this week's New Scientist (7 May) on the use of
a collaborative wiki environment Polymath (see
http://michaelnielsen.org/polymath1/index.php?title=Main_Page) to solve
a particular mathematical problem - although the article doesn't seem to
be on-line yet. The article has an interesting graphic on the different
contributions, showing that even some non-experts provided some
significant comments - some more so than published figures in the field.
It also emphasises the need for someone to organize and moderate the work. (01)
