Just in case people are reading this thread, the Bauer paper is at:

http://www.scientificexploration.org/journal/jse_18_4_bauer.pdf

Pat and Paola, I hope this URL adds some insightful quotes to your posted conversation.  I find the topic very interesting, and have always wondered how to most effectively work within the political realities of science and industry research as it actually exists today.  Each corporation sings one song, for the most part, which expresses its corporate self interest.  There is a marketing staff to choreograph it, PR firms to convey the choreography to the public, and essentially none of the “yes but …” expressions individual researchers show each other.

JMHO,

-Rich

Sincerely,

Rich Cooper

Pat

it would be great if you could criticise the paper and its content rather than criticising a researcher personal opinion on issues
not related to the topic of discussion

//since the ratification of the human rights declaration, people cannot be discriminated against for their beliefs, thoughts and opinions (art 18)///

thanks

Paola, I just discovered this email. Please, NOBODY take this man Bauer seriously. He has a complete kook, with viciously racist and homophobic views. He believes that HIV does not exist and that AIDS is a liberal conspiracy to disguise the fact that African-Americans are promiscuous; he believes in Bigfoot and the Loch Ness monster, and has argued that free speech should be curtailed in order to break the dominance of the scientific conspiracy. God alone knows what he thinks of global warming. What he says, you can be quite sure, is not business/economic reality, or indeed any reality at all.
