In all of my classes on ontology engineering and serious projects, I use
an informal blend of the Uschold and King and the Grüninger and Fox
method, starting with informal competency questions. As long as the
ontology is moderate in size (I would say less than 200 conceptual
elements), that will work very well. Building larger ontologies is a
different story, but even building small ones is so challenging that I
would advise against trying unless you have Cyc-scale funding and staffing.    (01)
