I have often mentioned the use of controlled NLs for representing
the axioms and definitions of ontologies. In June, there will be
a workshop on CNLs, and the pre-proceedings have already been

This is a good collection of short papers (extended abstracts of 4 or
5 pages) that survey the range of research and applications of CNLs.
I suggest that readers of ontolog forum browse through the list to
see papers they might find interesting. (03)
By the way, the practice of posting conference proceedings on the WWW
is accelerating. The CNL proceedings are in Vol. 448 on that web site.
Vol. 1 was posted in 1995, Vol. 2 in 1996, and Vol. 8 in 1997. But now
there are several new proceedings posted every week -- all free for
