I use the word 'map' in the mathematical sense: a structure-preserving
transformation from one mathematical representation to another. In
that sense, it is a generalization of the way a road map represents
some pattern of highways, intersections, and distances on earth.    (02)

I was using common mathematical terminology. In mathematics, nothing
is relevant to the formal reasoning except the definitions and axioms.    (04)

In category theory, the word 'map' is widely used, but many
mathematicians have adopted the more abstract term 'arrow' --
because they typically use an arrow as the notation for relating
an element of one system to an element of another.    (05)

If you prefer, you can do a global change of 'map' to 'arrow' in
my previous note. (But please don't get distracted by cowboys
and Indians.)    (06)
