There was an EU Cultural project that started some years ago.  I believe it was going to make use of a large registry with taxonomies in multiple languages to facilitate browse and lookup of cultural relics and other items of interest.  Forgot the name.

Dear [ontolog-forum],

Museums and the Web is an annual conference, papers are beginning to be posted here. <http://www.archimuse.com/mw2007/speakers/index.html>  Some organizations are developing ontologies, some may be in the midst of developing a solid requirements document, some are simply creating online messages out of unique materials.  A more technical counterpart, by the same sponsoring organization Archives & Museum Informatics based in Toronto, is ICHIM  <http://www.archimuse.com/ichim07/> concerned with digital culture and heritage.

Does anyone know of a comparison and mapping process to create or identify specific themes from selected sets of papers such as these *AND* examples from the associated museum image collections? What else besides Flickr lets you drag and drop items onto geographic locations?
