*REMINDER* (01)
Our second panel discussion (and the 9th event) in the
"Ontologizing the Ontolog Body of Knowledge" series is coming up
this Thursday, 06-July-2006. We will, again, be engaging invited
experts and members of the community to discuss the "what's" and
"how's" to the development of a semantically interoperable
application, using the improved access to the content of Ontolog
as a case in point. (02)
Dr. E. Michael Maximilien from the IBM Almaden Research Center is
our organizer for this session where he will put a focus on
Tools, Techniques, and Approaches to the matter at hand. (03)
* Topic: "Ontologizing the Ontolog Body of Knowledge - Discussion
Session 2 - Tools, Techniques, and Approaches Panel" (04)
* Moderator: E. Michael Maximilien (IBM Research) (05)
* Panelists invited to join us, include: John 'Boz' Handy-Bosma
(IBM Global Services), Peter Mika (Free University, Amsterdam,
Netherlands), Conor Shankey (Visual Knowledge), David Sifry
(Technorati) & W. Scott Spangler (IBM Research) (06)
* Abstract (by EMichaelMaximilien): (07)
In this panel we want to investigate tools, techniques, and
approaches that can help us in the task at hand and address the
rich spectrum of semantics that the ONTOLOG forum content covers.
In particular we would like to look into: (08)
o (1) Tools to create formal and semi-formal knowledge
representation (KR), e.g., OWL, Protégé, and so on (09)
o (2) Tools and services to create free-form annotations of
contents, e.g., deli.cio.us, Flykr, and others, resulting in
folksonomies (010)
o (3) Research, techniques, and tools (if any) to help make
sense of resulting folksonomies and ontologies (011)
o (4) Automated techniques, tools, and research approaches to
mine structure in unstructured text such as the ONTOLOG Wiki,
e.g., UIMA, podzinger for podcast to text translation, and others (012)
o (5) ''Semantically-rich next generation collaborative
platforms, e.g. semantic Wikis or other emerging web 2.0 tools (013)
