The Ontolog-OOR Panel Discussion Session of 6 August 2009 was devoted to
research
and other open issues relating to the goals of the OOR. (01)
Ken Baclawski has created a new wiki page, "OOR/Research Issues", focused on
these issues, http://ontolog.cim3.net/cgi-bin/wiki.pl?OOR/ResearchIssues. (02)
We would like all interested parties to contribute to this page by comments,
modifications, additions, and especially solutions. (03)
One immediate need/goal is to organize and prioritize the current list of
issues so
that they can be vetted against the current requirements and OOR vision to
understand
what's missing and, more importantly, address the more pressing issues (i.e.
enlist
aid in solving them). (04)
Also, Ken has submitted a paper, "The Open Ontology Repository Initiative:
Requirements and Research Challenges", to the Workshop on Collaborative
Construction, Management and Linking of Structured Knowledge (CK 2009)
http://users.ecs.soton.ac.uk/gc3/iswc-workshop/. The paper is an excellent
start
on the
organization and vetting process. (05)
CK 2009 is collocated with the 8th International Semantic Web Conference
ISWC-2009 October 25, 2009 being held at the Westfields Conference Center, near
