Ontology Repository Roadmap and Research Issues    (1YF1)

At the Ontology Summit 2008, a consensus was reached on a vision of an infrastructure for the storage, retrieval and management of ontologies in a federated open ontology repository (OOR). The purpose of this meeting is to bring together those individuals and groups that are either interested in or actively engaging in research and development of ontology registries and repositories. The long-term goal is to develop a roadmap for the OOR as well as to identify and prioritize the major OOR research issues.    (1YF2)

It will take place at the usual Ontolog session time on Thursday, August 6, 2009 at 10:30am PDT / 12:30pm CDT / 1:30pm EDT / 7:30pm CET / 18:30 UTC, and last about 1.5 hours. See http://ontolog.cim3.net/cgi-bin/wiki.pl?ConferenceCall_2009_08_06    (1YFA)

Proposed research issues    (1YFB)

Here are some issues mostly from the Ontology Summit 2008. These are not independent, and they often break up into smaller issues. Some are more general than just a repository issue. The intention is to focus on how these more general issues have an impact on repository research. In each case, one can ask whether the issue is already resolved, unresolved but a short-term issue, or unresolved and likely to be a long-term issue. For the unresolved issues, we need to identify what would be a desirable resolution, and how important it is to resolve this issue. Feel free to annotate this list and to add more issues.    (1ZTD)
