Brand,
Are you proposing that OMB should maintain data.gov ?
Not to confuse the issue or anything. But to provide more clarity:
- Depending on the methodology the artifacts that defines meta model, conceptual information model, logical and physcial data model can vary.
For example:
- When Object Oriented concepts are used, the artifacts are Business Objects, High level Object Diagrams etc..
- In Structured approach, Business entities, High level ER ( for logical ) diagrams are developed.
Ontologies can be used to come up with a set of business Objects or Business Entities.and the types and subtypes.. ( From an enterprise perspective..) that defines the enterprise.
But one has to take one approach or the other, to be consistent and have usable and traceable models, otherwise one has to map the artifacts from one methodology to the other and define the usage !
Anyone has any different throughts on this?

I had previously sent out the invitation below for endorsements to our Summit communiqué, but had not specifically brought this up on the summit or summit-org lists. So here is a last-minute reminder, if you’d like to be included on the endorsement list. Many of you have already responded, in which case please just delete this message.
Best regards,

Dear Colleagues,
The Ontology Summit 2009, “Toward Ontology-based Standards,” was held this week at the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST), with representation from major standards development organizations, industry, government, and academia. As is traditional at these summits, a summit resolution and endorsement statement was released in the form of a communiqué, and can be reviewed at http://ontolog.cim3.net/cgi-bin/wiki.pl?OntologySummit2009_Communique .
This email is to invite you, as an interested practitioner, to be listed as an endorser of the communiqué, which we hope will accelerate the incorporation of ontology practices in current and future standards, yielding the benefits identified in the communiqué. If you would like to be associated with this movement, please send an email to Peter Yim ( peter.yim@xxxxxxxx ) and me ( steve@xxxxxxxxxxx ), and we will ensure your name is listed as an endorser, or you can simply click here . Note that the site carries a disclaimer that your endorsement is made as an individual and not as a representative of your organization.
We will be closing this invitation at the end of Friday, April 17 th , so please respond soon.
Best regards, and thanks for your support.
