********************* Details ************************    (027)

These two sessions are jointly organized by the US federal data.gov
program and the Ontolog community; with the support from the
NYC-open-data, SMWcon-Spring2012, and OOR initiatives.    (028)

The two sessions on 'Big Open Data' follows quite naturally from a few
very exciting events lately:    (029)

(a) the recent US federal government's thrust toward developing and
leveraging 'Big Data'    (030)

(b) the 3-month long OntologySummit2012 series of events that just
finished a few weeks ago that was focused around the theme 'Ontology
for Big Systems,' and    (031)

(c) New York City's award of their 'Big Apps 3.0' grand prize to
NYCfacets (capitalizing on ontology and semantic technologies) and the
City's 'open data' initiative that followed.    (032)

These sessions, like all Ontolog virtual events, are open and free of
charge. Anyone who is interested, or (better still) who may have
something to contribute, is welcome. Please refer to event details on
the session pages, to which the hyperlink is given above, where you
will find session agenda, conference call dial-in, slides and other
pertinent information. Feel free to pass this invitation along to
colleagues who may also find these sessions to be of interest.    (033)

*RSVP* by emailing Peter Yim at <peter.yim@xxxxxxxx> offline (or add
yourself directly to the session page if you are already an Ontolog or
Ontology Summit community member) so that we can prepare enough
resources to support everyone. [Please state clearly the date of the
session you are registering for in your email.]    (034)

These sessions will be recorded and made available in a publicly
accessible archive. Therefore, before participating, please make sure
you are cognizant of our IPR policy (ref:
http://ontolog.cim3.net/cgi-bin/wiki.pl?WikiHomePage#nid32).    (035)

Regards. =ppy    (036)

the Session Chairs
